Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type. If the modem is in bridge mode, then you can definatly run the Orbi in Router mode which is preferred.

Why cant I acess my NAS when by Orbi is on AP Mode?

When I ping that address, it times out. Access Point mode is when you want to connect the router up to an Internet source via cable.

If that is your router, the the Orbi is best put in AP mode. You refer to a "security feature".

It sounds like maybe your NAS is still using the IP address range from when Orbi was in Router mode. Shoud have I connected the gateway to the LAN instead? You should connect it into the WAN port, but it will also work if you connect the ISP Router to the Orbi Router's LAN ports as well. The ports work in router mode.

Basically, the NAT kept the old or assigned IP address.

There used to be an issue with the satellite attempting to establish a backhaul connection over ethernet when it powers on if there were any devices plugged into a satllite LAN port.

I am just tiredCan you access ANY device wired to the satellite in AP mode?Ok.

Any other device (wired or wireless) becomes part of school network, as if the cable is plugged directly.

Change the IP configuration settings so the NAS get's its IP via DHCP.

The difference boils down to CPU impact to handles additional features when it's in Router mode, i.e. If yes, then Orbi won't make it any worse in either Router or AP mode.

If you have a router or a Morden from your ISP (which you should, hence your wanting AP mode), that router takes over the routing in your home network.

Re: Router vs AP mode. For you current configuration, router mode is needed for the Orbi.
