Stealing machine parts and an outboard motor from junkyards, the boys help Mud repair the boat. January 1, 2014 Its reminiscent of Stand By Me, Slingblade, and Huckleberry Finn. Running away, Ellis falls into a pit containing Mud manages to get back to the island where he and Neckbone get the repaired boat into the water.
Just below that it reads "Ticket Confirmation#:" followed by a 10-digit number. They find her motel room where another man (the brother of the man Mud killed) is abusing her. Ellis and Neckbone rush back to Mud and ask why the police are hunting him.
Ellis and Neckbone tell Mud about it and that Juniper didn't want to come.
An evocative highlight of the American movie year so far. After his plea for help is rejected by Tom, Mud gives the boys a note for Juniper. Ellis sees some attractive older teenage girls there and smiles. The joy of watching Mud is threefold: the lush cinematography, the fabulous script, and the poignant portrayals from not only McConaughey, who delivers a career-best performance, but also the boys and the supporting cast. |

Ellis brings a note from Mud to Juniper, telling her it's over between them. Mud has received numerous awards and nominations. A great teenage adventure movie with an intriguing plot and outstanding child actors. Its occupant, Mud(Matthew McConaughey), seeks to cut a deal with the boys while waiting for news of Juniper(Reese Witherspoon). I also loved the southern setting in this film, which made it all the more genuine, and realistic. (c) Roadside Attractions | Rating: 4/5
They develop a plan to reunite Juniper with Mud, but after agreeing to meet the boys at her hotel to bring her to him, she doesn't show and instead heads to a bar and flirts with other men.
For at least three-quarters of the way, this is a fine film, and one that kids and parents could see together. Cinemark | Rating: F-
