Lee Child has a gift for telling a story and I’ve already started reading the next in the series. This item: Persuader (Jack Reacher Series) by Lee Child Audio CD $18.00. Child is a master of storytelling skills, not least the plot twist, and the opening chapter of this novel spins a doozy, as a high-octane, extremely violent action sequence sees Child hero Jack Reacher rescue a young man, 20-year-old Richard Beck, from an attempted kidnapping before the rug is pulled out from under the reader with the chapter's last line.
While rescuing the intended victim Reacher accidently shoots dead a police officer and is forced to escape taking the young man he has saved with him.
What makes the novel really zing, though, is Reacher's narration-a unique mix of the brainy and the brutal, of strategic thinking and explosive action, moral rumination and ruthless force, marking him as one of the most memorable heroes in contemporary thrillerdom.

It is everything a thriller should be with the added joy of having a twist..... at the begining. Vigilantism of any kind is politically incorrect and fraught with danger but do Reacher fans secretly admire him partly because he is so single minded in righting wrongs regardless of the consequences?
(6,011) Although I'm not sure I will ever read all of the Reacher books, the fact that Child has told us that Reacher will win is not a disappointment When I look back at some of my favorite TV series that were based on a hero or heroine, it was comforting that we knew, no matter the odds, that our hero was going to win.
