Since 1985 we have rescued and delivered more than 155 million pounds of food, preventing over 192 million pounds of greenhouse gas equivalents from entering our atmosphere.Second Harvest's core program sends a fleet of refrigerated trucks to pick up donations of fresh, surplus food and redistributes it to social service agencies serving people facing food insecurity.Feeding Our Future is a summer program that feeds hungry kids in city camps.Second Harvest is committed to supporting our community through training, certification and on-going best practice workshops.Second Harvest's online platform makes it easy for businesses with excess food to donate to social service organizations.Second Harvest is completely dependent on the generosity of companies and organizations who donate surplus food.More than 1,080 social service agencies are supported by Second Harvest.The generous support of corporate and foundation supporters helps Second Harvest redirect fresh, healthy food to those who need it.
