This book series has a web site, some parts need a subscription, and also a fantastic set of videos hosted by author George Trombley, for me one of the best tutors I have had. The pages are good and thick for writing your own comments and taking notes, which I encourage others to do.
The book slowly takes you through the hiragana by incorporation it the next set of characters and completely replacing the romaji with them.
